Glam babe Shriya Saran opens up and here are some interesting glimpses of her life. She was very keen to learn Kathak from Shovana Narayan. She met Shovana in Delhi and became her student. She performed in Shovana’s troupe and caught the eye of someone who was making a music video in Varanasi. She went on to do it and this was seen by a Telugu filmmaker who cast her in her first Telugu film. However, she considers her second film her real break. This was the film Santosham where she paired opposite Nagarjuna. From then on, the rest is history.

She candidly admits that she has been infatuated with every actor she works with. She especially has a soft corner for Nagarjuna whom she dubs a sweetheart. She was introduced to Vipassana by his wife and regularly follows it.

On the question of marriage, she does not seem to have found her Mr.Right yet. She opines that,”I would like him to be someone who is a friend, someone who I can grow with mentally, spiritually and emotionally.”

Srimanthudu mystery revealed

The upcoming Mahesh Babu-Shruti starrer Srimanthudu has been the subject of much speculation. Directed by Koratala Siva, many believe it’s a message-oriented film. However, we hear from reliable sources that the film has much more. 

Fans of Mahesh Babu can rest assured that Srimanthudu is an out-and-out commercial film which will stay in sync with his image. The chemistry between Mahesh (Harsha) and Shruti (Charuseela) sizzles. The duo play college students.

The film has been extensively shot in Hyderabad, Palani, Pollachi, Pune and Malaysia. The story we hear also shows Mahesh as a youngster who wants to do his bit for his roots.He says, “The idea was told to me a year ago by my director Siva garu (Koratala Siva). I saw it as a strong story and my character is powerful, someone I haven’t played yet in my films,.”

Who’s the next Basha of Tamil cinema?

Superstar Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Basha created B.O. history and also has gone down the annals of Tamil cinema. Rajinikanth who played the role of a Mumbai don and has a very stylish look, distinct mannerisms and some great punchlines that are still recalled.  Needless to say, Basha went on to become a cult classic.

Now the director is planning to cast Thala Ajith in the flick. Ajith is currently shooting for Sirutha Siva’s untitled film with Shruti Haasan. Bahubali rocks India, overtakes Shankar’s Robot

S.S. Rajamouli’s Magnum Opus Bahubali is the talk of the town. It has an impressive star cast Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah. Besides its whopping budget, star cast, world class graphics and lavish sets, the film has so much more to offer. Shot in Tamil and Telugu, it has been dubbed into Hindi and Malayalam.

The flick has grossed approximately ₹169 crore at the worldwide box office in the first weekend and its three-day collection has beaten many Tollywood blockbusters. The Hindi dubbed version has reportedly netted 22.35 crores after the first weekend from around India. This is the biggest opening that a South Indian film's Hindi dubbed version has ever received and it has beaten the record of Shankar's Robot.

 The film has spectacular special effects. Life was breathed into these scenes by 17 VFX companies and 600 VFX artists. The impact is amazing. For the first time In India, a movie museum for a film will be created featuring all the costumes and props used. Another interesting fact is that it has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for the world's biggest poster.

Gauthami makes her big comeback with Papanasam!

Nine long years away from Kollywood, yet Gauthami has not lost her spunk and charm. Her comeback vehicle Papanasam with Kamalhassan has been well-received and her role is well-etched and memorable too. Playing Kamal’s wife and the mother of two kids, she has given a sensitive and powerful portrayal. The duoare also pairing up onscreen after two decades.

Papanasam is a remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Drishyam and deals with a father-daughter relationship. Talking about her experience she says, “I was just happy to be back. When Papanasam started, I had no doubts about my performance, it was only about my looks. I see Kamal as one of the best scriptwriter-directors. We worked well together onscreen.”

Kamal on his part has high words of praise for Gauthami. “Everyone performed very well in this film. I felt guilty for not letting Gauthami act for a long time. For me Gauthami is a top heroine.”

Moroccan sizzler Nora is the toast of Tollywood!

The stunning sirens of the silver screen have always been part of the Tollywood fantasy. Moroccan model Nora Fatehi shot into the limelight with a sizzling number in Puri Jagganadh’s Temper. Not only was the number a big hit, she drew a large fan following. Her debut film Roar: Tiger of the Sundarbans did not fare too well at the b.o. but her dance numbers have captured the imagination of the audience.

Nora now has some biggies in her kitty. She will dance in Ravi Teja's next and post that she has a hot number in Kalyan Ram's upcoming film, Sher lined up. We hear that this  music was composed by SS Thaman and has a peppy beat with a folk element. Nora has already started shooting.

She also was part of Bahubali. She suffered a wardrobe malfunction on the sets when her top came off suddenly before the camera. Tamannaah stepped in and rescued her. We hope these songs prove lucky for her and get her that big break.

Ready for Endhiran 2?

Die-hard Superstar fans have much reason to cheer. They loved Endhiran where Rajini fans enjoyed the sci-fi meets reel life romance with the lovely Aishwarya Rai. It’s now almost confirmed that Shankar and Rajinikanth are teaming up again for Endhiran 2.

With Shankar’s penchant for grandeur, lavish sets and larger-than-life action sequences, this will definitely be one more mind-blowing production. We hear that pre-production is already in progress. The art-department along with the VFX team is believed to be working day and night to get things ready. The direction team is scouting for locations and working on the script.

We wonder who the heroine is going to be. Will it be the ravishing Aishwarya Rai again or will it be one of the younger heroines Hansika, Nayantara. Nayantara and the Superstar share a good chemistry and it would be nice to see them paired up again. Looking at Hansika, her bubbly personality would complement the Superstar too. Let’s wait and watch whom Shankar and Rajini pick.

Chiranjeevi’s 150th film is a mass comedy

As Chiru gets ready for his landmark 150th film, his fans are quite excited. The star who had been hunting for a unique script found his heart’s desire in director Puri Jagannadh story. We hear that he had heard numerous stories but was not quite happy with any. Finally, when he heard Puri’’s story, he okayed it in 20 minutes!

The mass comedy has been titled Auto Johnny. This has been named after a popular character from Chiranjeevi's 1991 blockbuster Rowdy Alludu. Director Puri Jagganath can’t believe his lucky stars as Chiranjeevi was his childhood hero. He said, “As a young boy I remember decorating theatres in my village when Chiranjeevi's films would release. Now, I'm going to direct his 150th film. That's a script even I couldn't have dreamt of!”

The film will be launched on Chiranjeevi’s birthday on August 22 and will go on floors in September. They expect to get it wrapped up quickly and released during Sankranti 2016. While many leading heroines are being considered, Nayantara seems to be at the forefront.

When Trisha got engaged to industrialist Varun, it seemed like a fairytale. However, we hear that on the day of the engagement itself, the couple had a tiff. Trisha has invited her good friend Dhanush but sources say that this did not go down too well with Varun who is not on good terms with him.

Jiiva to turn village hero and romance Nayan

Jiiva’s career has been on the downturn in recent days. Post Nanban (2011), his films like Mugamoodi, Neenthane En Ponvasantham, David, Endrendrum Punnagai and Yaan have not fared too well at the B.O. In a bid to ressurect his career, he has ensured that hottie Nayantara will scorch the screens with him in his upcoming Thirunaal.

The shoot will start in May at Kumbakonam where a massive set is being erected to shoot sequences. Mahesh Muthusamy is the cinematographer and Sri is the music director. Nayantara has quite a meaty role and she appears pretty thrilled.

Shruti pays a whopping sum to producer!

Shruti Hassan was recently in the eye of a storm for walking out on producer Prasad V Potluri’s film. She was the heroine of this film starring Nagarjuna and Karthi with direction by Vamsi Padipally.

Upset with the turn of events, Prasad filed a case against her and this had been widely reported in the media. However, it looks like this tiff has come to an end. There was an official statement from both the parties that the case has been solved out of the court and now Shruti Haasan is free from the case. “The case was withdrawn after Tamil Film Producers Council (TPFC) and South Indian Film Artists Association (SIAA) intervened and settled the issue amicably,”read a statement.

We hear that the actress had to pay dearly though. Sources say that she had to pay the advance along with a fine and that totalled 18 lakhs. She also has to perform an item number in the movie Size Zero. Currently she is busy promoting her Hindi film Gabbar Is Back opposite Akshay Kumar where she plays a Marathi Mulgi.

Shocker: Charmee hit on the face with a hockey stick

Pretty Charmee has been quite the darling of Tollywood and it came as a shock to fans when they heard she recently met with an accident on the sets. The star was shooting for a stunt sequence on the sets of Jyothi Lakshmi in Goa.

As part of the sequence, a junior artiste was supposed to hit the actress on her head with a hockey stick. However, this misfired and the stick hit her on the face leaving her bruised and in tears. Immediate medical aid was given.

Charmme shuddered on recalling the experience and said,” "It was so scary. I started crying immediately after the blow on my face. It was swollen and badly bruised and I was physically exhausted. My skin is sensitive and it immediately turned red." However, thorough professional that she is, she returned to shoot in six hours time and the schedule was completed on time.

The rise of Rakul Preet

The pretty Miss India contestant (2011) Rakul Preet now seems to be the toast of Tollywood!  She has bagged roles opposite Tollywood biggies like Ram Charan, NTR and Ravi Teja. To add to her happiness, she is now to be paired opposite Mahesh Babu.

Rakul made her debut in the 2009 Kannada flick Gilli. However, her Telugu debut came only with Kerattam in 2011. She has been working both in the South as well as Bollywood. Rumours are that she bagged the film opposite Mahesh Babu as she is more affordable than Samantha who charges a whopping 1.5 crore. However, she dismissed this rumour by saying,"Only after Samantha left the project, I got a call from Ram Charan's unit. As I could adjust dates and I loved the script, I'm on board for the project.”

The film makers have done their preliminary meeting with Rakul and she loved the script. The star is currently shooting for Kick 2. Her star seems to be in the ascendant and the audience sure loves her.

Lakshmi Menon plans to quit films!

Lakshmi Menon has had quite a dream run in the industry but she’s planning to quit and this has sent shock waves among her fans. The dusky charmer is a good actress and has received rave reviews for her performance.

The actress is currently busy preparing for her XII Board Exams. She wants to pursue a degree in English Literature and plans to join a college in Kerala.
