The rise of Rakul Preet

The pretty Miss India contestant (2011) Rakul Preet now seems to be the toast of Tollywood!  She has bagged roles opposite Tollywood biggies like Ram Charan, NTR and Ravi Teja. To add to her happiness, she is now to be paired opposite Mahesh Babu.

Rakul made her debut in the 2009 Kannada flick Gilli. However, her Telugu debut came only with Kerattam in 2011. She has been working both in the South as well as Bollywood. Rumours are that she bagged the film opposite Mahesh Babu as she is more affordable than Samantha who charges a whopping 1.5 crore. However, she dismissed this rumour by saying,"Only after Samantha left the project, I got a call from Ram Charan's unit. As I could adjust dates and I loved the script, I'm on board for the project.”

The film makers have done their preliminary meeting with Rakul and she loved the script. The star is currently shooting for Kick 2. Her star seems to be in the ascendant and the audience sure loves her.

Guess which director will direct Nags next?

The speculation on what Nagarjuna’s next project will be and whom he will work with is getting higher. We hear that the veteran director K Raghavendra Rao may be the lucky one.

The bond between Nagarjuna and Raghavendra Rao goes a long way back. Nagarjuna has worked in several devotional films like Annamayya, Sri Ramadasu and Shirdi Sai directed by the thespian. Both are immensely fond of each other and have crafted a memorable body of work.

Nagarjuna has admitted that the director has approached him with a script, however, he feels it’s too early to comment since talks are in the initial stages. Going by his past record, we believe that this film too is likely to be biographical.

Lakshmi Menon plans to quit films!

Lakshmi Menon has had quite a dream run in the industry but she’s planning to quit and this has sent shock waves among her fans. The dusky charmer is a good actress and has received rave reviews for her performance.

When quizzed about her sudden decision, the actress revealed that as of late most filmmakers in Kollywood offer her scripts that have her either playing a village girl or a girl-next-door. She told the TOI, “I am extremely bored essaying the same kind of roles in all my films - it is getting too repetitive. I need a break from this, so I am planning to quit soon.”

The actress is currently busy preparing for her XII Board Exams. She wants to pursue a degree in English Literature and plans to join a college in Kerala. She is currently acting in Komban with Karthi and Rajkiran. She plays a village girl. Let’s hope Lakshmi does not quit, else the industry will lose a talented actress.
